First Sunday in New Journey Home - Oct 4, 2009!

They started installing the irrigation and street trees this week.
Now they are prepping the street and parking lot for paving. It
should be paved by the end of the week. They are also finishing the
bio-retention ponds (rain gardens). Next week they will begin to
install shrubs and other landscaping. We are hoping to get a
Certificate of Occupancy on September 2nd so we can begin moving in
the furniture and decorations and begin installing IT, sound, and
video equipment. It is so exciting to be so close to a new home for
Journey!! Remember October 4, 2009 will be the FIRST SUNDAY in the
new building!!

Windows are IN and Drywall is going UP

The brick on the building is completed and they have put in most of
the windows. They have drywalled most of the walls, and its starting
to feel like a complete building. Now we are getting to the slow
detailed part of the building process. We are still looking at
completing construction in September. The interiors team (Rob
Pinkston, Donna Early, Dawn Blackburn) has picked at almost all of the
furniture now, and it looks awesome. Remember, you can click on the
WEBCAM to see the progress of the building! Keep praying for the
Imagine campaign giving so we won’t have to carry a huge amount of
debt on the building!

Wow! The crews have been working really hard on the building, and they have a LOT to show for their work! The brickwork is done and interior work has begun in earnest.

This weekend, the work crews started putting up the steel girders! Word is that they may have all the steel up by the end of the week. Check back often to see the progress this week.

We invented a new word today at Journey….

“Curbage” - to have possession of or access to curbs

We have curbs!!! I know, I know, that doesn’t sound too exciting. But to everyone who has to park at the office, curbs mean gravel areas are soon to be available. That means - NO MORE MUD ON OUR CARS!!!!

Also, the construction teams continue to make progress on foundations and other important facets of the building process. Please continue to pray for safety for the crew, wisdom for the building team, and good weather.

Footings are poured

As of December 23rd. They are pouring footings for the foundation. Next will be pouring the
concrete floor and grading the parking lot. Follow the progress on
the webcam. Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!
